On any other day this might appear odd.

The setup and cast of characters for this survival story:
  • Strange chirping sound emanating from storm sewer outside of library.
  • Fire department is contacted.  (I live in a small town.  This IS done).
  • Fire department shows up.  ( I live in a small town. They DO show up)
  • Ducks.  Baby ducks in storm sewer.
  • Mother duck fitfully fretting and pacing.
  • Tools involved:  One fire truck complete with fire department personnel.  Two rakes. One fishing net. One large plastic container.
  • Helpers:  Librarians, library patrons and one small child.

As Paul Harvey said, "And now for the rest of the story":

Click on the link below - you will want sound.

Enjoy your day and know that in some parts of the country, the fire department and a group of librarians are doing their part to save the world.  One duck at a time.

Perfect... Highlight of my day so far. If all our tax dollars went to such great causes it would be a perfect world!!
