Have Your Dentist On Speed Dial

Saturday at the library where I work we made gingerbread houses out of graham crackers.
I have done this every year for the past ten years.
I have 2 classes of 30 children each.  And their parents.
It's so much fun.  It truly is!
I had leftover candy and crackers.
I made 3 at home to give away to friends.

Here's the basic structure.
The icing is simple.
It's powdered sugar
powdered egg whites
and a little bit of water.
Mix until it resembles spackling
or toothpaste.

Add the roof.
Let the whole thing dry.
The longer you can let it set, the better.
Candy, candy, candy!
Red gumdrops!
These are great for pulling out your fillings.
I should know.
Muffin tins make great candy holders.
Hopefully, yours are nicer than mine.

This one looks like it's seen better days.
Teddy grahams are a nice addition.
Especially since I couldn't find
gingerbread men cookies
this year.

Marshmallows make a nice snow covered roof.
I subscribe to the "more is more" theory.
I covered cardboard with foil giftwrap.

I pooled the frosting around the house
to keep it from sliding off.
And - it's completely edible.
Graham crackers.
Who knew?

Fabulous!!! Love the idea of using graham crackers - so clever and easy. Love those "seasoned" muffin tins too. I have a few myself! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I'm trying to imagine 30 kids, their parents and muffin tins full of candy. And the marshmallow snow roof is genius.

Last year I made what I refer to as the $500 peanut brittle ... because of the new crown I was able to buy with the $$ I saved making my own homemade, teeth-breaking candy.

Just right for the holidays...I used to do this with the four years old in Head Start, but there's didn't always turn out so cute, and they ate much of it while building! Thanks for the compliments on the silhouettes. Lezlee
